Join me in my spacious studio for an in-depth beginner's sewing class! During this course, I will take you through everything involved in becoming comfortable with a sewing machine, working on smaller samples whilst progressing towards making a garment made to your measurements. The choice of garment includes a t-shirt (unisex), a tunic top/dress (plus sizing available) and a pinafore dress (plus sizing available).

There's no need to have your own machine as they will be provided-with the option to bring your own if you have one at home you'd like to get to grips with. All materials are included except the fabric/trims/thread for your final garment-which I'll give you tips for choosing yourself!

Ideal for beginners with little/no experience, as well as people already familiar with the basics of a sewing machine looking to build their skills and move on to garment making. My mini/accessories course also provides a great full introduction before moving on to my clothes making class.

Class sizes will be small to ensure good one on one time. I will provide all equipment needed for the class-scissors, pins etc. An optional list of supplies that would be helpful for working on your skills/project at home will also be sent upon enrollment. I will also send you the choice of sewing patterns available so you can choose the garment you will be making for your final project. The sewing pattern will be yours to take away after class.

Course content includes:

Learning the ins and outs of a sewing machine
Threading a machine
Using a commercial sewing pattern
Sewing buttons and zips
Essential sewing techniques
Tracing off pattern pieces
Measuring and choosing a pattern size
Marking pattern pieces on fabric
Cutting fabric
Choosing fabrics for a project
Finishing techniques

Where to find my studio: I am located at Rogart Street Campus where ample free parking is available. Bridgeton train station is close-by and Bellgrove train station is a 5-10 minute walk away. I am also about a 20 minute walk from Glasgow city centre.

Come and learn the skills to get you on your own fashion journey in a friendly, relaxed environment. See you in class soon! x

Cancellation Policy:

Classes are non-refundable if cancelled with less than three week's notice. If you are unable to make a course you have signed up for, I will transfer you to another date where possible-although I am unable to guarantee this.

Payment is for the full course, so if you are unable to make one of the sessions, that week cannot be refunded. I will catch you up on the new techniques you have missed and will provide additional time if possible around the usual class time. Unfortunately due to the time restraints with running a small business, I am unable to provide individual session to make up for any missed.

Perfect beginners class

Steph is a wonderful teacher, she is patient and great at taking you through all the steps. Her studio is perfectly equipped for all your sewing needs. I had a great time, made a dress that looks really professional and made new friends. I feel confident in continuing sewing on my own. Thank you Steph 💫

6 Week Beginners Course ❤️

I really enjoyed the beginners sewing course, I learnt so much and the proper process of making garments using a pattern! I didn’t think I could do it before this class, and now that I have the skills, I’ve made pyjamas!

Thanks Steph for teaching us, I thought that the class size and all the practice samples worked fantastically.

Brilliant class

I can’t recommend this class more, I loved it and can’t believe I made a dress.

Steph has a wonderful teaching style, sensing when you might need a little extra help and very encouraging while keeping the class relaxed and fun. I’m missing my Thursday night routine and will definitely book another class in the future.

Amazing course!

Steph is a great teacher and after completing the course I feel like I could start a new sewing project and feel confident - previously my experience was high school home ec for two years so it’s unreal progress! The set up is relaxed and welcoming, and I’m sad it’s finished! The small class size means there’s no waiting around for any help you need and you get to try so many different techniques. Can’t wait to wear the dress I’ve made and tell everyone within a 5 mile radius that I made it.

Great teacher

I attended a beginners 6-week course and am really glad I did.

Steph is a great teacher, and classes are small which means everyone is supported. I'd had some experience of hand sewing but had never used a machine before, and I'm really happy with what I've made and the skills I now have. They've already come in useful!
