A course to take your sewing to the next level! During this class we will work on a collection of samples to introduce you to new/more advanced techniques, whilst working towards making a toile (mock-up) of your chosen garment and then the final garment in your choice of fabric (made to your measurements).
To join this course, you will need to have completed my Beginners Clothes Making class or have sewn a garment before. Ideally you will also have your own machine as you will get the most out of the class if you can do some sewing at home.
The choice of garment includes:
Blouse/dress (plus sizing available)
Trousers (plus sizing available)
Dungarees/overalls (plus sizing available)
Shirt (choice of plus size or unisex pattern) - Pattern choices will be sent upon enrollment. The pattern will be yours to take away after class.
All materials for the samples made in class are included. You will be required to source your own calico for making a toile, as well as the fabric/trims/thread/interfacing for your final garment.
Class sizes will be small to ensure good one on one time. I will provide all equipment needed for the class-scissors, pins etc. so you don't need to bring anything along each week, however, ideally you will have your own basic sewing kit for use at home-I will send a list of supplies upon enrollment.

Tracing off pattern pieces
Measuring and choosing a pattern size
Reminder of basic pattern adjustments
Demonstration of more advanced fitting techniques
Sewing buttonholes on a machine
Sewing a regular and an invisible zipper
Darts and gathers
Collars
Pockets
Sleeves
Making a toile (mock-up)
Marking pattern pieces on fabric
Cutting fabric
Choosing fabrics for a project
Various seam finishes
Where to find my studio: I am located at Rogart Street Campus where ample free parking is available. Bridgeton train station is close-by and Bellgrove train station is a 5-10 minute walk away. I am also about a 20 minute walk from Glasgow city centre.
Cancellation Policy:
Classes are non-refundable if cancelled with less than three week's notice. If you are unable to make a course you have signed up for, I will transfer you to another date where possible-although I am unable to guarantee this.
Payment is for the full course, so if you are unable to make one of the sessions, that week cannot be refunded. I will catch you up on the new techniques you have missed and will provide additional time if possible around the usual class time. Unfortunately due to the time restraints with running a small business, I am unable to provide individual session to make up for any missed.
