Saturday 12th of September

10-1 pm

Rogart Street Campus, Glasgow

All equipment and fabric provided.

A workshop designed to provide a full introduction to sewing on a sewing machine before progressing further with your sewing projects.

Ideal for absolute beginners who would like a thorough introduction to a sewing machine before joining any longer classes. During this workshop, you will be shown how to thread your machine and master all the basic stitches required for sewing. You'll also be introduced to different machine feet and be given a run down for troubleshooting the machine.

At the end of the session, you'll put your newly learned skills into practice by making a tote bag to take home!

There's no need to have your own machine as these will be provided-with the option to bring your own if you have one at home you'd like to get to grips with. A choice of fabrics will be provided for your tote bag, you are also welcome to bring along your own if you would prefer.

Class sizes will be small to ensure good one on one time. I will provide all equipment needed for the class-scissors, pins etc., making this a great way to try sewing without having to buy any additional supplies.

Course Content Includes:

Learning the ins and ours of a sewing machine
Threading a machine
Winding a bobbin
Basic stitches and finishing techniques
Changing a needle
An introduction to the equipment used in sewing
Sewing your own simple project to take away at the end of the session.

Where to find my studio: I am located at Rogart Street Campus where ample free parking is available. Bridgeton train station is close-by and Bellgrove train station is a 5-10 minute walk away. I am also about a 20 minute walk from Glasgow city centre.

Come and learn the skills to get you comfortable on a sewing machine in a friendly, relaxed environment!

Cancellation Policy:

Workshops are non-refundable if cancelled with less than three week's notice. If you are unable to make a course you have signed up for, I will transfer you to another date where possible-although I am unable to guarantee this.

A fantastic educator

This class is a great introduction to sewing. The morning was well structured with useful tips on how to set up the sewing machine, clear instructions and short exercises. I feel a lot more confident using a sewing machine now and am proud of myself for fully making a bag in just a few hours. Steph is a brilliant teacher, patient and encouraging. The class was affordable, and the studio location is ideal, close to a train station and with a lovely cafe on the ground floor.
